Support Us

The Messenger Public Library gratefully acknowledges donations, gifts, and support given to the library. There are a variety of diverse ways to contribute to the Library, and conversations about larger scale giving are always welcomed by the Director and Board.

Our Foundation

community foundation of the fox river valleyThe Messenger Public Library has a foundation account through the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley to provide for all levels of giving. This fund is directly utilized to purchase items, support programming, or fund special initiatives.

Monetary gifts, bequests, endowments and memorial or honorary contributions benefit the library by providing diverse revenue sources and are most useful when unrestricted. The Library holds a 501 C (3) tax exemption through its Messenger Public Library of North Aurora Foundation Fund, and donations both large and small are gratefully acknowledged.

Please speak with the Library Director for more information or visit the web page to donate.

Donate Materials

Patrons that wish to donate materials to honor an individual, a memorial donation, or to supplement a particular collection area may complete a Buy-A-Book form or speak to the department about needs. All donations honoring an individual are eligible for a bookplate. Please note that all Buy-A-Book giving is subject to the Collection Development and Management policy.

You may download a copy of the form HERE.

Donate a Program or Presentation

We welcome partnership with local business and presenters, and you may complete a Program Proposal Form for consideration or suggest a program.  The Library focuses primarily on programs that are of cultural, civic, or historical nature while following the Programming Policy.

Partnership for business presentations is extremely limited as the Library is a non-profit institution, and sales or marketing to patrons is prohibited. Careful consideration and vetting is critical to protect the integrity of the mission of the public library and utilize public resources for what is of public interest.

You may submit a program proposal form by clicking HERE. (links to the online form)

Capital Donations or Sponsorship

If you are interested in donating for Library improvements, please speak to the Library Director for a thoughtful conversation. Improvements and enhancements are important for keeping the facility updated, welcoming, and serviceable for patrons. Examples of items that are on our current wish list include:

  • Enhancing landscaping and plantings
  • Outdoor seating
  • Thoughtful art to improve spaces and study rooms
  • New seating for rear areas of the library to provide for more work spaces
  • Technology for circulation to patrons
  • Reconfiguration of the book drop to allow for full drive-up, safe access
  • Large scale: Improved entrances and parking

There is always a running list of ideas, please let us know if you are interested in supporting MPL through larger or specific giving.

Donate Used Books or Local History Items

At this time, we are not accepting donations of used materials.

If you have materials that are of specific interest for local North Aurora history, we would be happy to review the items as we are building a local history collection.
